Red Bull Bull-eh

I was given a free can of Red Bull while waiting to be picked up at the foyer. I don't usually drink Red Bull but since it was free, I just couldnt resist it (greed kicks in). The salesgirls came in this adorable, cool and attractive little car which also bears the logo of the drink itself.
This car was neatly parked metres ahead of the principal's car. Although the principal's car looks bigger, more spacious and definitely more pricey, this car had successfully caught my eye due to its cute frame and and uniqueness.

It was smaller than the Viva I drive. I fancy it.

As seen here, I had invited Teik Wei to take this photo with me with both of us holding the RED Bull can. Okay, from the way he looked, I will have to admit that I forced him instead of inviting him.

The power of Red Bull is really amazing as I had felt extremely energised the whole night. Instead of sleeping at my usual sleep time 11pm, I slept at 2.30am. Yeah, Red Bull memang Bull-leh!

Monday is another brand new start of the week and everyone is expected to be apathetic.
So, I just thought of sharing some crazy pictures with you to brighten up our little Monday.

Jo and Irene treated us to a supposedly sumptuous lunch today. The venue was their rented apartment and the honourable chef was both the ladies.
It's time for an evaluation.
How does it taste like?
Well, I would say that it can still be improved. Practice makes perfect and considering that it was their first attempt, I will rate them 3/10. LOL

Okay. No offence to any of them but I would just like to try my hand at being a food critic.

*Ahem*

First of all, the ABC soup tasted like a bowl of salted soup with a generous amount of onions, tomatoes, potatoes and carrots. Seriously...

Next, it was 'fried egg with red beans' that was prepared by Irene. The beans were probably too crushed and mashed and it tasted weird (for me). I took a first scoop of that dish and that's it. Ask no more. My expression says it all.

Last, it was the pattaya style fried egg by Jo which was slightly better compared to the first two. It was acceptable when I took my first bite but when it reached the last portion, I thought it was too wet and a bit undercooked.

Luckily, these 'talented' chefs were willing to make us some real and proper food (sausages and maggi mee) and their sins were immediately wiped off. And this time, they were good. Probably because the food itself does not require much effort at all. Wee.

I'm just very thankful that my mum is an excellent cook.

HaHAHHAAAAaahhhaaa...

Anyway, Jo and Irene, if you are willing to lend me your kitchen one day, I promise I will make you an excellent meal at no extra charge at all. XD

surprises (good and bad)

I just read Elizabeth and Sing Rou's blog and learnt about the great and amazing birthday surprises their friends had thrown for them. Not forgetting, my own sister too. She received a bouquet of flowers from her friends and she was smiling in glee all the way at her birthday party. She even bought a dress prior to her party and msn-ed it to me to share her joy.

Ahh, the reason I’m writing this is not to complain about me not having a proper surprise on my birthday. At least I know I better make this clear before any of you start to plant thoughts into your head.

In fact, I did receive one surprise when I was in…form 4 going on form 5. We had then attended a leadership camp held at Inti College. We were playing cards when the lights suddenly went off. Then, all of a sudden, someone (I can’t remember who) brought in a cake and people started singing birthday song for me. How sweet...Ee Ping had actually requested her FRIEND, YC to deliver the cake all the way to Inti just for the sake of me. This is even sweeter…

I shall stop with all the surprises and parties. Let me just get down to business.

First of all, I would like to congratulate Dr. Ng Yen Yen for being elected as the first woman in the vice-presidency of MCA. “Women have to work hard, and be twice as good as men” was what she quipped. This is so true. Her triumph in securing a place as a veep has certainly opened the doors for other women candidates to join in the crowd in the coming years. So, Dr Ng, please work smart and fight for the rights of women.

Secondly, I need to apologise to feifei for holding him responsible for making me ill the other day. I was certainly in no position to throw all the blame on you as I might have contracted the cold myself. Thousands of apologies to you.

Third (and also the last), I would like to criticize the service that I had received while having my family dinner at a Chinese restaurant in town last night. The service was slow and even worse, the service was bad. We had almost reached the end of the dinner when we ordered a dessert to officially end our feast. One waitress came, and started scooping the dessert into the bowls arranged neatly nearby. After she was done with her task, the whole table was wet! And she had not even attempted to apologise to us or wipe off the mess immediately.

We had paid 5% for the service charge and this is how we were treated? I might as well not pay for the charge if this is the service that they are going to offer to a first-timer like me. That’s it. The restaurant is out of the list.

Note: the demanding side of me started to erupt after attending Mr Lee's services marketing class for two months. effective? maybe...

I should have never underestimated the degree of damage one little cute baby can cause to a healthy teenager like me. Everyone knows that I am a food addict who loves to share my food with people around me, even babies. Few days ago, feifei had contracted a cold and passed it to my mum. I thought my strong body can withstand the virus but I was proven wrong. I fed feifei the other day and I had used the same spoon to feed myself. This, in turn, gives the perfect opportunity for the virus to fly and enter my supposedly strong body. Serve me right la.

This virus is extremely and incredibly vicious. Not only had it attacked feifei, it also attacked my mum and I. At the point of writing, I am still feeling very dizzy and I can’t help but to blame feifei for passing me the cold. I know that it’s unfair to blame it on a little baby since he can’t speak for himself, but who else can I blame it on? Myself? Which fool will actually blame herself? Now, it's your turn to speak.

Anyway, having gone through thick and thin together, aun and feifei still remain as the boys i love most deep down inside my heart.

Live to eat or eat to live?

I strongly believe that this month represents the eating season (maybe it’s just for me). My eyes have been relentlessly on the lookout for food in Penang, be it fast food, hawker food or even home-cooked food. Since recovering from my agonizing toothache, I have a deep liking for Koay Teow Th’ng and I just can’t explain to you why because I do not know the reason either. All I know is whenever I’m asked on what I would like to eat, the first thing that pops up in my mind is koay teow th’ng. Period. Previously, I didn’t really like it because I thought that it was rather tasteless but now, I have this unexplainable craze over the food. I just couldn’t believe that I now share the same symptoms of pregnancies.

I am quite particular when it comes to choosing the right food. Anything that is too oily or pricey is definitely a big No for me. Sometimes, I do get a bit frustrated when I stumbled upon good food with expensive price tags because I could not afford to foot the bill at all. Sad, isn’t it? Are you the same? Tell me…

Lok lok - This is my all-time favourite food. However, it's getting pricier lately.

Who can ever resist Mee Goreng? I've heard that the calories are superbly high though.

Char Koay Teow - it just makes me drool everytime I'm near the stall

Ikan bakar - Btw, the one that I yearn for isn't this type of fish. I prefer sting ray bakar.
I also love the sauce.

Rojak - The stall that I frequented most of the time is at Gurney Drive. The uncle gives a generous amount of sauce and yau char koay.

Fish and chips - This doesn't look very appetising though. I remembered taking this once in Melbourne. Even though I shared with my dad, the portion was too huge to finish. This will certainly put the Penang hawkers to shame.

Filet o fish - From RM4 onwards, you can get this delicious burger at McD

And how can I ever forget my favourite koay teow th'ng?

my sleeping country

The financial crisis that had crawled out from the States is yet to completely unleash its ugly wings to the world. The saying that goes, when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold is nothing but an absolute fact. Although other Asean countries that were struck by the spill-over effects have started taking moves to mitigate the impacts, my beloved country is still in her deep beauty sleep. Worse still, she is preoccupied with her politicking and to date, there is still no sign of concrete actions.

Are they (the leaders) going to react only when the others are making their recovery plan? Have they no idea that a global recession is on its way to our country? Or do they regard politicking as a significant step to weather the crisis? I surely hope not…

Too bad I’m just an average student. There's nothing much I can do to talk my way through to the politicians whose interest are certainly not to care for the welfare of the fellow citizens.

Arghhh…I can't help but to grumble about my Boleh-land.
Someone please do something.

Wedding registration

I landed a cameo role today. Do you think that it was for some sort of Hollywood film like Anna and the King? I was hoping for that too, but as reality would have it, that wasn’t the case. Rather, it was just an insignificant and camouflaged role at my cousin's wedding registration ceremony.

To be even more precise, I was a video girl who was in charge of recording the whole oath-taking ceremony using a digital camera. And I’m proud to say that I have delivered my job pretty well.

The sky looked ominously dark and the sun was overshadowed by the turbulent clouds just as we were about to start our ride. Fortunately, God took mercy on us and somehow, He prevented the rain from pouring on us this afternoon. It would sure to be a mess if it was to rain.

And finally, being the third pair of the day, my cousin and his girlfriend were happily marked as husband and wife. When the ceremony was just about to end, we were retained in the room to listen to what the lady who registered the marriage for them has to say. She spoke in two languages, first in Mandarin and then followed by English. I could not really comprehend what she said the first time, so I had to wait for her to deliver it in English.

Still, I did not really get what she was trying to say. All I know is, right after she had finished talking, almost everyone (excluding me of course) reached into their pocket and took out their wallet. The ladies, on the other hand, unzipped their hand bags. Each of them quietly proceeded to the front desk, where a transparent bowl of money was placed and dropped their money into the sealed bowl before swiftly returning to their seat.

Now I get it! I think the lady was asking for donation for the handicapped. Errr, is this the right time?

Just being curious, I wonder if the lady was going to unregister any couple who refused to contribute to the ‘bank’. Cheeky ones like me would have probably turned a deaf ear and pretended to look elsewhere :P

And coincidently, the lady had also performed the same task on my parents many years ago! If I was notified earlier, I would have insisted to take picture with the lady! Without her, my parents would not be possibly married, and I would not be here today updating my blog.

That’s the end.

I hereby announce that my cameo role has officially ended.

All right, after hours of hard work, I think I sure deserve some flowers.
